Phil Collins wasn’t pushing out albums every year like a lot of bands in the ’60s and ’70s. I also think he had a great advantage. He was part of a very successful group (Genesis) for years before he even had the option of putting out a solo record. Phil came right out of the gate with FIRE. Accumulating ideas in the background for years launched a solo career that lasted decades and provided us with some fantastic hits (and albums).
