When going through this process (you know, listening to every single song of The Moody Blues, watching documentaries, and listening to podcasts), I was unsure how to classify The Moody Blues. I knew I liked Days of Future Passed, but wasn’t sure about their other works.
I found it a bit crazy they were in my top ten in 2007. They beat out some big players (in my current mind), and they would have to prove their worth to stay at that spot. Well, the votes were in and they took down one major player – Boston.
Turns out that I do indeed like a lot of The Moody Blues songs. They couldn’t take out Electric Light Orchestra, but their longevity and relative consistency allowed them to beat out Boston and their ‘greatest hit album’.
Thankfully for the Moodys, I eliminated all of the poems and spoken word songs. Also, the holiday album December was disqualified. With my scoring and adjustments, they received a positive score.
Do I think they will stay at #5? No.
